The ’Urban Geometry (untitled)’ series of works (consisting of paintings, photographs, drawings, books, prints, wall paintings and collage) is constructed through a process of looking at the relationships which occur between colour and form. The work is based on the idea of a plan and how artworks or even urban development such as architecture are developed from the ideas of such plans e.g. a sketch, a drawing, a rough draft. From this a form is slowly organised, catagorised and then developed into some other form, solution and outcome, even though the initial design is gone, hidden or forgotten within the new and finished form of that object, however the first drawing or idea is still inherent within the finished work. This work is not necessarily about abstraction (because my work is not about abstracting life) but is about constructing relationships between forms and the creation of a space that is partially intuitive but a form of reality. What that reality is, is mine, but also yours, and it is through this process of constantly looking at, and then reinventing everything around, that new images and relationships always appear.
