Sebastian Freytag *1978

"The purest sources of art are available: happy are those, who find and taste them. Searching those sources means to travel to Athens; and Düsseldorf is now becomming Athens for artists. The only way for us to take on stature, and become, if possibele, inimitable, is by imitation of the elders. (...)" (Winkelmann 1755/ Freytag 2006)

Guido Münch *1966

Instead of "neither nor" we should say, "never this, and always so". In Münchs work this demand for clarity is employed in favor of conviction. Münchs work is always in the offensive, never playful, never ironical, always painting on strechers, always oil paint, always pure colours, never grades and shades of colours, always hard edges, always clearly defined surfaces, always art history, no excuse, no naivety, always "elite", always art.

(Sascha Hahn, Düsseldorf 2004)
